Lacey Township Recognizes Girl Scouts

On June 8, 2017, Girl Scouts Cassandra Shank and Erin Foreman received proclamations from Mayor Curatolo and the Lacey Township Committee for their Gold Award projects. Both Cassandra and Erin received their Gold Award on June 2, 2017, in Lakewood joing the prestigous group of recpients. The Girl Scout Gold Award represents the highest achievement in Girl Scouting and empowers girls to better their community through their projects.

Both Cassandra and Erin's Gold Award Take Action projects helped to solve issues in their community of Lacey Township. Girl Scout, Cassandra Shank's Gold Award project titled, Lacey Township Historical Society Website & Facebook allowed Cassandra to addressed town pride.

"Our town is rich in history and has seen tremendous growth in the last 50 years. I wanted to make learning about our town’s history more accessible. My project consisted of designing a web site and a Facebook account for the Lacey Historical Society. I worked with the Lacey Historical Society to construct a website to meet their needs, added a scavenger hunt activity as part of Lacey’s 4th grade curriculum, designed and maintain their Facebook account and promoted their website through Facebook and business cards that were distributed through-out." explained Cassandra.

Girl Scout Erin Foreman's project, Lacey Lock Box Program dealt with an issue of safety. She explain her project and her partnership with the Lacey Township Police.

"For my project, I created a free community program for Lacey Township residents. Participants of the program have a lock box containing keys to their home installed in a predetermined location. To make this program a success I worked with the Lacey Township Police Department explain them the benefits and how they can access the lock box in emergency situations where the door is locked and Law Enforcement need emergency access. Use of the lock box can prevent costly property damage from forced entry. The lock box may also be used in the event of a wellness check."

Join us as we congratulate Cassandra and Erin again for their efforts in making the world a better place.
