New Journeys/Badges announced + Volunteer Tool Kit Improvements

Girl Scouts of the USA just rolled out new Journeys and badges, and we want you to be the first to get all the exciting details.

This new content not only makes relevant additions and enhancements to existing Girl Scout programming but also creates a more well-rounded experience. For example, the programming includes Take Action projects in subjects that interest today's girls most, like science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and the outdoors. Plus, we have a brand new badge to help Ambassadors prepare for college.

There is no need to wait, you can access the new girl-tested and girl-approved programming with volunteer-driven enhancements on the Volunteer Toolkit right now!

Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors have new badges in cybersecurity, mechanical engineering, space science, and environmental stewardship. These were developed in partnership with the SETI Institute, Astronomical Society of the Pacific, University of Arizona, ARIES Scientific, and Girl Scouts of Northern California.

Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors have two new Journeys: Think Like an Engineer and Think Like a Programmer, plus badges in environmental stewardship and robotics. Ambassadors also have a College Knowledge badge.

For more information, visit the Award and Badge Explorer.

In addition to the new programming, the Volunteer Toolkit now includes the following enhancements.

Setting up your troop year just got easier. The new “Explore” tab lets you select your own or use preselected tracks to jump-start your troop’s year plan. New badge and award visuals show you what your girls will earn.

Badge images are now active buttons that display the requirements and steps to earn each badge.

Badge tracks have always been a popular year-plan choice for troops. Two new badge tracks have been added to Daisy, Brownie, and Junior grade levels, and now Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador troop leaders also have preselected badge track options! (two STEM Journeys and a badge track). We’ve also added Multi-Level 6--- 12 program options.

Combined with existing badges and Journeys, as well as programming in life skills and entrepreneurship, these new activities are designed to help girls unleash their inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) spirit as they achieve the five outcomes of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience: develop a sense of self, display positive values, seek challenges, form and maintain healthy relationships, and solve problems in their communities.
