School's Out

Break free from the classroom and celebrate Spring Break in-person at Camp Amity Acres and Camp Sacajawea. We’re offering all-day, age/level-appropriate, socially distant, camp-style programming with a Stay-cation theme from Monday, April 5 through Friday, April 9. Enrollment is limited. Register early!

If you already have Spring Break activities planned, or if you prefer to participate virtually, our shorter, at-home options may be right for you! We've partnered with Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey to offer at-home program activities for all levels running from Thursday, April 1 through Friday, April 9. Have fun and get engaged with age-appropriate activities for every Girl Scout level. We have exciting collaborations with AT&T, Beaverton Civic Theatre, Maryhill Museum of Art, just to name a few!

In-Person Activities — Get Outside!

All in-person activities are full-day and occur at either Camp Amity Acres (133 Jones Road, Barnegat/Waretown) or Camp Sacajawea (242 Adelphia Road, Farmingdale). Before and after care is available for all sessions and can be added when you register.

Monday, April 5

Claymation Creation

Have a blast learning the basics of stop-motion animation by creating original clay characters and bringing them to life. In partnership with the Garden State Film Festival, girls will learn from the experts and practice techniques from film and TV to learn the basics of visual storytelling through claymation. Girls will develop a story concept, sculpt clay characters, and a stop-motion animation video clip. This engaging workshop cultivates creative expression, communication, and teamwork skills, resulting in unique clay animation.


Road Trip

Fasten your seatbelts because we are going on a road trip to see America! We’ll start our trek in Massachusetts to visit Plymouth, Boston, and Salem then head down the highway to Washington DC to see the monuments! After we stop for a roadside lunch, we head west to visit the Grand Canyon and finally finish our adventure hiking through Denali National Park to see the wildlife. Girls who join us on our “trip” will learn some interesting history and outdoor skills, plus geology and nature through hands-on activities and art projects!

Tuesday, April 6

Caribbean Cruise

Come Sail Away with us on this adventure to a tropical island get away. Imagine yourself relaxing in a lawn chair, listening to steel drums, and watching the waves crash! If you chose, you can make your own ukulele, learn about the sea creatures who live in the islands, and play some beach themed games. “Ship-board” activities will also include trivia games and line dancing lessons!

Wednesday, April 7

Winter Vacation

Hit the slopes while staying warm as we re-create all your favorite winter activities indoors! Have a snowball fight, create ice paintings, and participate in a goofy snowshoe relay race! Wear your hats and mittens to add to the fun. We might even build a snowman!

Thursday, April 8

Disney

The characters! The rides! The shows! You will find them all here while you spend a fun day Imagineering your best Day at Disney ever! Experience the best of all four parks all in one day! Activities themed around Epcot’s Futureworld, the Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, Animal Kingdom’s Safari, and Hollywood Studios’ Toy Story Land will be offered.

All virtual activities occur in the comfort of your own home. Programs are not full-day. Check start and end times to ensure activities fit into your schedule.

Daisy Programs

Space Science Explorer Badge

Girls will be Space Scientists as they explore what is in the sky. They will meet the Sun, Moon and Stars through fun activities including: making an out of this world key chain, learning the phases of the moon with cookie fun and creating their own constellation viewer! Girls will be asked to gather some materials in addition to being sent a package with materials.  (In partnership with Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey)


Mechanical Engineering: Model Car Badge

Engineers have been creating cars for hundreds of years, and now it’s your turn! Girls will learn how engineers brainstorm, build models, and test their ideas as they create a car out of a toilet paper tube. They will put their cars up to a race test while learning how friction and gravity affect speed. Girls will be asked to gather some materials in addition to being sent a package with materials.  (In partnership with Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey)

Make your own paper mache' poster! Create a colorful background, then add positive words to make inspirational phrases and describe just how unique you are. Space Science Adventurer Badge

Dancer Badge with Beaverton Civic Theatre

Let's use dance to tell a story! Beaverton Civic Theatre's Production of Annie had several scenes with dancing orphans. We'll go behind the scenes and explore how costumes, props, and acting workshops contributed to storytelling and dance in the production of Annie. Then we'll get moving with warm-ups, learn some simple steps and have a dance party!  (In partnership with Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey)

Scribe Badge Program with Eileen Moskowitz-Palma

Middle grade author, teacher and Girl Scout alumna Eileen Moskowitz-Palma divides her time between writing and teaching at The Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College.  Eileen’s middle grade series, The Popularity Pact , launched at the height of the pandemic.  Therefore, she formed a virtual writing program to help serve kids who were affected by school, library and museum closures.  Each girl will receive a signed copy of Book One: Camp Clique.  (In partnership with Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey)


Musician Badge

Explore the use of music in theatre, dance, and the movies. Learn about musical instruments and composers. Go behind the scenes with Beaverton Civic Theatre, and see how the sound effects were created for the production of Charlotte's Web. During this workshop you will create your own musical instrument and participate in creating orchestration to scenes from Beaverton Civic Theatre's production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and The Hundred Dresses.  (In partnership with Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey)

Exquisitely Connected

Join us for an in-depth experience of the Exquisitely Connected, a national community digital mural, which captures the spirit, love, concerns, and energy of people of all walks and in all locations living through these current challenging times. In this two-day virtual workshop, girls will explore elements and principles of two-dimensional design and create a submission for the Exquisitely Connected project. Girls will also learn the history of Exquisitely Connected with its origins in our contemporary lives and its direct connections to various art movements and similar social experiences throughout history. Exquisitely Connected is supported as a partnership between the Maryhill Museum of Art in Goldendale, Washington, and Monmouth Arts in Red Bank, New Jersey.

Girls will discover how to protect themselves online with concepts that include multi-factor authentication, social engineering and how to spot phishing. There will be hands-on activities to crack passwords, find metadata in pictures and investigate logs for signs of cyber hackers. After attending this session, girls will earn three cybersecurity badges: Basics, Safeguards and Investigator.
