Owned and operated by the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore, Camp Sacajawea is located at 242 Adelphia Road, Farmingdale, NJ less than 10 minutes from the Garden State Parkway.

You can schedule a wide range of activities during your time at Camp Sacajawea (seasonal offerings). Offerings include nature trails, a lake for boating, an outdoor swimming pool, archery, zip line, climbing wall, flying squirrel, mid-high and a challenge course. Trained staff facilitate all of our outdoor activities.

Camping facilities at Camp Sacajawea yurts, platform tents and primitive camp sites. A shelter with picnic tables completes the ambiance of outdoor camping at each of our sites.

Platform tent site reservations are available seven days a week from April through early November. There are canvas tents on platforms in many of our campsites. There are three to eight tents available in a site. During the latter half of June, July and August, tent sites are available on weekends only. The sites at Camp Sacajawea can accommodate groups as small as 18 and as large as 300.

Most of the camp sites feature canvas tents with fire rings and charcoal grills and an electric outlet on site. Water spigots and cleavus' are nearby each site.

The largest area, called Big Top, accommodates up to 200 guests and can be used as a dining area. It’s also great for outdoor events such as dances or plays.

A private camp site overlooking Lake Brindle is a beautiful spot in the woods, surrounded by nature with beautiful views in every direction. Even roughing it at Camp Sacajawea isn’t roughing it. One of these sites includes access to electricity and water. A campfire ring, charcoal grills, a shelter with picnic tables are on site as well.

An open area with a flagpole is available for a flag ceremony. The area can be used for outdoor games, too.

There are cleavus' located in camp so the walk to the 'flushies' isn't always necessary. The 'flushies' are toilets that flush and are available April - November. Water in camp is turned off from November - April.

Camp Sacajawea offers a performing arts center, Jonathan Weisfeld Performing Arts Center, featuring a covered stage area and outdoor arena seating. There is an electric source on the stage and a campfire ring in the front.

Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore offers many activities at our facilities, are flexible and can accommodate most sized groups for any of our outdoor activities. Whether it’s a business meeting, a family gathering or a team-building exercise, we help you plan an exciting event We can suggest a caterer for your event from a local vendor who can create your desired menu.

weather-sun_32 Swimming

Swimming is available at Camp Amity Acres and Camp Sacajawea from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Amity Acres features a cedar lake with an enclosed swimming environment separated into safety sections for beginner and advanced swimmers. Sacajawea offers a chlorinated swimming pool. When rented for use, both swimming options include a lifeguard.

Archery can be added to any experience at Camp Amity Acres and Camp Sacajawea. A certified instructor and equipment can be provided for all rentals. Outdoor archery is available from April through November, weather permitting. Indoor archery is available at Camp Sacajawea during the winter months.

A low ropes course program for team building is available at Camp Amity Acres and Camp Sacajawea. A minimum of 12 participants are required for each session. A certified facilitator and equipment are included with each program. These activities create personal challenges and build trust and teamwork. All activities are based on participant ability. Participants must be in fourth grade or older.

flag_32 Team building

We have a teambuilding program for participants third grade and younger or for those who would rather do a less strenuous team building activity. This program can be done on your site or ours, indoors or outdoors. Participants are given challenges which help them work together to meet a goal.

sneaker_32 High Ropes

Our high ropes course includes a zip line, climbing wall, flying squirrel and a mid-high. A certified facilitator and equipment are included with each program. These activities create personal challenges and build trust and teamwork. All activities are based on participant ability. Participants in the flying squirrel must be in the 4th grade (or equivalent age) to participate. To participate in the mid-high, you must be in the 6th grade (or equivalent age) to participate. The zip line and climbing wall are for all ages as long as the equipment fits the participant.

These activities are available from March through November, weather permitting.

fire_32 Campfires

Campfire-trained staff is available all year around at Camp Amity Acres and Camp Sacajawea. Our trained staff will start your campfire, maintain the fire, supervise the campers and put the fire out before leaving.

water_32 Instructional Canoe

Instructional Canoe instruction is available at Camp Amity Acres and Camp Sacajawea. Groups must have a minimum of 12 participants. The facilitator will teach the participants water safety, boat safety and supervise them as they paddle on the lake. This is a great activity all year around but is especially enjoyable in the fall with leaves changing color.

weather-sun_32 Recreational Boating

Recreational boating offers a similar experience to Instructional Canoe but in a more relaxed setting. Both of our camps have funyaks and canoes to get out on the water and enjoy.

The Lakeside cabin located on the Camp Sacajawea property at 242 Adelphia Rd., Farmingdale, NJ 07727, features a fireplace, meeting area and a kitchen area all in an open room. There is a loft leading to an open area overlooking the room. Private bathrooms are in the cabin as well as showers. The back wall of the main level features large windows and sliding glass doors that open to a deck and the lake. A campfire ring, with wood, and charcoal grills complete the camping experience for outdoor cooking and relaxing.

During the summer camp months, check-in time is scheduled for 6pm, and 5pm during off-peak periods, with a check-out time of 3pm the following day.

We have platform tents in three campsites. These tents can accommodate approximately six - eight people. Each site has a shelter with picnic tables close by. One of our campsites has three small yurts tucked in the trees. Each yurt can accommodate four people to sleep. A refrigerator is in Friendship Lodge basement for use by those who reserve platform structures. Camp Amity Acres provides a compelling setting for a wide range of activities. Offerings include nature trails, a lake for swimming and boating, archery, zip line, climbing wall, challenge course, mid-high and flying squirrel. A certified staff will facilitate all outdoor programs.

The Friendship Lodge is located on the Camp Amity Acres property at 133 Jones Rd, Barnegat Township, NJ 08005, features a fireplace, meeting area and a kitchen area.

Our indoor facility is Friendship Lodge, a heated, modern building. This facility is available year-round. It features two dorms, each can accommodate 15-20 to sleep. There is a bathroom with showers near each dorm. A large main room near the kitchens can accommodate approximately 30 people seated at tables. There are two small kitchen areas for food prep. Each has a refrigerator, commercial stove, microwave and sink. Tables and chairs are stored in the lodge and charcoal grills are outside the lodge. There is a large deck on the front of the lodge. Each dorm has a deck off it. A canopy shades each deck from April – October. There is a full basement than can accommodate 150 people. An amphitheater is also attached; it includes stadium seating and is a great location for group presentations.

Friendship Lodge is available every weekend and weekdays from September through mid-June. From mid-June until August, it is available on weekends due to an on-site summer day camp. During the summer camp months, check-in time is scheduled for 6pm, and 5pm during off-peak periods, with a check-out time of 3pm the following day.

The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore’s All Purpose Room located at the Ocean Service Center at 1405 Old Freehold Rd, Toms River, NJ 08753, is exactly what the name implies, a room available to meet almost any need. Recently renovated, the room features an LCD projector and screen, conference tables and chairs are also available. A recently updated kitchen includes access to a full size refrigerator, sink, oven and microwave. This room is suitable for everything from an organizational business meeting to a family party for a baptism or birthday.
