Scholarships

Girl Scouts offers many scholarship opportunities at the local and national level.

Locally, the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore offers a competitive scholarship based on need, the Kiefer-Stevens Memorial Scholarship. Qualifications are based on acceptance to any post-secondary educational institution; financial need; commitment to career/profession; participation in Girl Scouting, such as, earning the Silver and/or Gold Award, and participation in council activities. Other qualifications taken into consideration by the committee are extenuating family circumstances, service and leadership outside Girl Scouting, number of years in Girl Scouting, class rank and other academic indicators.

arrow3-right_32_green The GSUSA Gold Award Girl Scouts Scholarship recipients will receive a $5,000 scholarship. Girl Scouts applying for the GSUSA Gold Award Scholarship must be either:

current high school seniors who earned or will earn anytime before April 1, 2026
recent high school graduates who earned in their senior year after March 31, 2025

Girl Scouts who are eligible for this award will have submitted their Gold Award final paperwork through GoGold online and will have been approved by March 1st. Girls will be eligible to complete the scholarship application through GoGold on March 14.

Gold Award Girl Scouts who applied in a previous year are not eligible to re-apply.

Travel Scholarships

Eligible trips for the 2027 Travel Scholarships, regardless of the cost of the trip, include:

2027 Camp Canadensis
2027 Germany/Italy/Switzerland/France
2028 Italy and Greece
GSUSA Destination, International or Domestic

Applications will be accepted May 1, 2027 to May 15, 2027. Girls traveling on trips in 2027 or beyond can apply for scholarships each year as long as they are registered for the trip!

To assist girls who wish to travel on Council Trips or GSUSA Destinations, the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore offers girls the opportunity to apply for Travel Scholarships. Girls must be registered for a trip in order to apply for a scholarship. Girls who apply who are not registered for a trip will not be considered.

Girls are eligible to receive Scholarships for council-sponsored trips and GSUSA trips. Approved scholarships range in value between $75 - $1,000 per year. To qualify, girls must sell a combined minimum of $500 worth of product in the Fall Sale Program plus 600 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies.

How will the girl be selected to receive a portion of this scholarship?

The girl will complete her application along with a parent/guardian. Both girl and parent/guardian must sign, date and submit their travel scholarship application through the form below.

Travel Scholarship applications will be accepted May 1, 2027 to May 15, 2027 Girls traveling on trips in 2027 or beyond can apply for scholarships each year as long as they are registered for the trip!

Remember, the more you sell, the MORE you EARN and the bigger your potential reward!

Criteria:

Sell a minimum of $500 worth of product in Fall Sale
Sell at least 600 boxes of cookies
Be registered for a council-sponsored trip (or GSUSA destination)
Be a registered member and be active in Girl Scouts

Please Note:

Earned Travel Scholarships can only be used for Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Council Trips that are stated above, or for GSUSA Destinations.

If for any reason a girl who has earned a Travel Scholarship cannot go on the trip that the funds have been applied to, whether the trip is cancelled by the host organization or the girl can no longer attend, the Travel Scholarship funds can either be rolled over to a new trip that qualifies for which the girl is already registered, or it will be surrendered and funds will return to the Travel Scholarship Fund.
If a girl can no longer attend a travel opportunity, they must cancel and request that the funds be rolled over to a new eligible trip they are already registered for BEFORE the original trip is 100% non-refundable. After the trip is 100% non-refundable all travel scholarships in that trip are forfeit.
All travel scholarship funds must be used before the Girl Scouts graduates out of Girl Scouts, which is September 30th after High School Graduation.

All balances must be paid in full by the timeline specified in each individual trip.

Future trips that are required to be paid in full before the Travel Scholarship application opens will have funds applied directly to the host organization and they will process a reimbursement of any earnest money.
Current year Travel Scholarship funds CANNOT be applied to a trip that has occurred before the application deadline. This year it is May 15, 2027.

Travel Scholarships cannot be more than the cost of the trip.

D-Pass Destinations Travel Scholarship

Will complete a minimum of 1 page post-trip report of what you did and learned, and will include 3-4 pictures, due no later then one month after returning from the Destination
