Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors, and adults, interested in learning
to crochet? Whether you are looking for some learning support, want to
incorporate crochet into your textile badge, or are in search of
crochet inspiration, join us for a beginner crochet project with
easy-to-work with yarn. Together, let's get hooked on crochet!
Participants will learn to create their very own amigurumi plush at their own pace with step-by-step instructions and hands-on assistance. Amigurumi is the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small, stuffed yarn creatures!
Participants attending will receive all the necessary supplies to complete one penguin amigurumi project, including a crochet hook and yarn needle for use with future projects. Participants who already have crochet/knowledge and skills are welcome to register and bring their own project or work on the one provided and enjoy some good crochet camaraderie!
Hooked on Crochet is a program series in which a different project is presented for each session. Please see the Event Calendar for additional offerings. Project support for previous Hooked on Crochet projects may be requested at subsequent sessions.
Crocheting fun patch included in participant fee. This CSA+ program is also open to 5th grade Juniors bridging to Cadettes in September 2026. This program is designed for troops or individuals with an adult chaperone. Adult chaperones should also register for this event to meet Safety Activity Checkpoints youth to adult ratios. All adults attending must comply with GSJS's policies and procedures.
