What does "real beauty" look like? In this eye-opening and empowering program, Cadette Girl Scouts will dive deep into the world of beauty standards, media influence, and self-image. Through interactive activities and thoughtful discussions, girls will explore how beauty has been defined across different cultures and time periods, and how those definitions continue to evolve. They'll take a closer look at advertisements, social media, and celebrity culture to uncover how images are edited, filtered, and often unrealistic.
Girls will engage in hands-on experiments with photo editing tools to better understand image manipulation and how easily perceptions can be altered. They'll also discuss the impact these messages can have on confidence, self-esteem, and identity. Through guided reflection, journaling, and group conversation, girls will begin to challenge narrow beauty standards and recognize the value of authenticity, diversity, and individuality.
By the end of the program, Cadettes will walk away with stronger media literacy skills, a more critical eye when consuming content, and a renewed sense of confidence in who they are. Most importantly, they'll be empowered to define beauty on their own terms-and to uplift others in doing the same.
