3D PrintHer Lab

3D PrintHer Lab - for ALL LEVELS

Join us online or in-person to learn how to design and print in 3D! Using Tinkercad, you’ll follow the GSJS-provided instructions or parameters to design your object. Each program is designed for all Girl Scout levels to be able to complete (with some adult help of course!).

We recommend starting with the novice program and working your way up to the challenge programs, but starting with the beginner program is not required. Participants with prior 3D design knowledge may wish to start with the intermediate or advanced projects based on the design skills listed in the description. It is also recommended that participants of all experience levels try at least one prior project before tackling the expert or challenge levels.

Participants will earn a 3D Printing fun patch for the first project they complete (not included with the Novice trial program) in each Girl Scout level (i.e. a Girl Scout Brownie completing a project in their Brownie year can also earn one for completing a project in their Junior year).

Online participation will be in a virtual asynchronous format. Virtual learners will receive a link to a WordPress page with instructions on how to access Tinkercad and complete the project. When your project is finished, you’ll submit it to GSJS to be printed in the 3D PrintHer Lab. Projects can be picked up at a GSJS service center (Farmingdale, NJ or Toms River, NJ) or shipped for an additional fee. Turnaround time for finished 3D prints is approximately 1-4 weeks and is dependent on participant volume.
In-person participation is encouraged at our 3D-design programs or STEM Drop-Ins (Farmingdale location only). In-person learners do not need to register for the virtual asynchronous programs and will be granted access with their event registration for the duration of the event. If participants wish to continue the fun at home, they should register for the virtual asynchronous format. Participant projects will be printed in the order they are completed during the event. Any projects not printed by the end of the event will be available for pick-up within 2 weeks of the event.
