Meet the GSJS Media Girls
Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore members who exemplify courage, confidence, and character! Open to Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors, these leaders have opportunities to conduct interviews, be interviewed, attend photoshoots and speaking engagements. Media Girls receive training, as required, to be able to report on council and community events and share our stories with the Girl Scout community and the world.
Media Girls are called upon to:
Interview with the media, attend press and GSJS events.
Become a Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore influencer!
Participate in focus groups and brainstorming sessions.
Create content, such as write articles and shoot photos/videos.

Any current Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore members who exemplify courage, confidence, and character are invited to join our Media Girls! Open to Girl Scout Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors, these leaders will have opportunities to conduct interviews, be interviewed, attend photoshoots and speaking engagements. Media Girls will receive training, as required, to be able to report on council and community events and share our stories with the Girl Scout community and the world.
Opportunities:
- Develop your public speaking skills and how to present yourself on camera or in photos.
- Interview with media on TV, radio, and print publications. Attend press events and speak at local events.
- Take part in commercials, videos, social media, and print features.
- Participate in and volunteer at major Girl Scout events throughout the year
Goals:
- Help us tell the Girl Scout story!
- Highlight Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore as peer role models and inspire other girls
- Develop lifelong skills while representing Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore
- Elevate Girl Scouts as real-life examples of the impact our organization makes on girls and their communities
Requirements:
- Must be a registered Girl Scout for the upcoming membership year, from September 2024 to September 2025.
- Must be a Girl Scout Junior, Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador.
- Must have permission from a parent/guardian to participate and sign a media release.
- Attend club meetings and training.
- Must be flexible to be called upon for major Girl Scout events.
- Submit at least two pieces of coverage throughout the year. Your coverage should include one major Girl Scout event and one personal interest piece that is relevant to Girl Scouts.
- Your pieces can be in the form of an article, video, or photograph—think about a video or photos to accompany a written news article, Instagram post or reel, blog post, vlog, or podcast.
Please Note:
- Media Girls are encouraged to have a parent or responsible adult who is a Girl Scout member available to participate with them and commit to helping to:
- Share your media initiatives on social media.
- Bring you to Girl Scout events or press events as needed.
- An application, short questionnaire and media release signed by parent must be completed to be reviewed by a selection committee
- Council will try to include each member in at least one opportunity per year. Not everyone will be selected to participate in every media opportunity
